Russia

Since the Soviet Union has "come apart" more and more people want to visit this area. Its two most popular cities to visit are Moscow and St Petersburg.

St Petersburg
St Petersburg is home to one of the Worlds great museums, the Hermitage. The Hermitage has a vast collection, about 65,000 items. Some of these items are histories most important art.

If you want to really enjoy it, you should plan at least two days here. There are several palaces you can visit. The Winter Palace, Catherine Palace, and Pavlowsk Place the official summer residence of Catherine the Great's son Paul are all in this general area.

Moscow
Moscow is most famous for the Kremlin, Red Square and St Basil's Cathedral. When your there you want to visit the Armory museum to see the spectacular collection of Imperial treasures and weapons. If you like cruises I'd like to recommend trying the "Waterways of the Czars". You will cruise from Moscow past several towns and small villages ending in St Petersburg. It includes tours in towns and these cities and it is only 13 days. There are still several sailings available in September. Tours run May thru September.
