Bermuda
Bermuda
isn't even a part of the Caribbean, though many think it is. Bermuda
is off the Atlantic at about the same latitude as Charleston South
Carolina. The best way to describe this area is, fine beaches, resort
hotels, and gorgeous weather. Keep in mind that both air and water
can be chilly in winter.
Bahamas
Like
Bermuda the Bahamas aren't a part of the Caribbean either.
The Bahamas are a string of 700 islands stretching from southeast
of Florida into the central Caribbean Sea. The best known destinations
in this area are, Nassau, and Paradise Island. Paradise Island is
where you will find the mega-resort "Atlantis". Atlantis
has something to offer all types of vacationers. It is a very popular
place for family vacations.
Greater Antilles
This
area is farther south and includes, Cuba, Caymans, Jamaica, Haiti,
Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. All of these locations are popular
vacation spots. If you're a diver or really enjoy water sports the
Caymans are a good place to go. The Caymans are Grand Cayman, Cayman
Brac, and Little Cayman. Grand Cayman is home to the Seven Mile Beach
area where many beautiful resort hotels are located. Jamaica is a
very popular Honeymoon location. "Sandals Resorts" offer
many different accommodations on the island. There all-inclusive packages
are a real bargain! As a member of this group we can recommend lots
of choices.
Lesser
Antilles
This
area includes the Virgin Islands, St Martin, Antigua, Guadeloupe,
Martinique, Barbados, and Trinidad and Tobago. Having traveled to
these locations it's hard to pick which one to write about. I believe
they are all wonderful! It's hard not to like them. There clean, and
they offer so many things to see and do. They are easy to reach from
most major airports in the U.S. St Thomas is where most first time
vacationers to this area go. There are incredible resorts, tourist
attractions and extensive duty-free shops.
ABC Islands
The
ABC Islands are just northwest of Caracas, Venezuela. The are Aruba,
Bonaire and Curacao. Aruba is best known for its fine beaches and
casino-resorts. Bonaire for its diving and Curacao for fine dining
and shopping.
The last area, aren't islands at all. They are the mainland cities
that encircle the Caribbean. They include Mexico,
Colombia, Venezuela and Central America.
